2.Iodine Deficiency Control Project
Objective
To control and prevent iodine deficiency in remote areas.
Activities
1.Promoting the use of iodized salt in cooking
2.Drinking iodized water in schools
3.Monitoring by checking goiter in children twice a year
4.Providing knowledge to students and others in the school's service area so that they can understand the dangers of iodine
deficiency
Evaluation In academic year 2005, the indicator that was used in the evaluation was the rate of goiter among primary school students. Checking for goiter is conducted twice a year, at the beginning and at the end of the academic year, the outcome of which was as follows: - 1st time 1.35 percent - 2nd time 1.23 percent
3. The Project to Promote Nutrition and Health of Mothers and Children in Rural Areas
Objectives To promote the well-being of pregnant women, breast-feeding women and newborn - three-year-old babies in rural areas in order to get appropriate service and attain knowledge of food and nutrition. As a result, the mothers will have good health, and the babies can achieve maximum growth and development.
